Why choose bamboo? It grows exceptionally fast and releases 35% more oxygen than equivalent species. Some species of bamboo, a member of the grass family, can grow up to 50cm a day making it one of the fastest growing woody plants in the world.

Bamboo reaches full harvesting maturity in three to five years, which is significantly faster than hardwoods. It is incredibly strong with a tensile strength similar to steel, therefore producing a high quality paper.

Bamboo is also easy on the environment as it promotes healthy soil. Bamboo's deep root system prevents land erosion, and if harvested correctly does not require replanting after harvest. Bamboo also grows without fertilizers or pesticides!

JMP's bamboo paper bags are made by a factory that sources most of their paper material through Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) approved suppliers. The factory has currently applied for FSC certification for its bamboo paper. This will ensure that the bamboo used for your bag comes from properly managed bamboo farms or forests located far away from the panda's known habitats. The bamboo paper is also produced from species which the panda does not eat.
